Out of School Club

Palmerston out of school club provides quality, accessible out of school childcare.

We offer a range of play activities in a welcoming and stimulating environment; our aim being to meet the social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional needs of each child who attends. We provide opportunities to develop individually and socially through play.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a place for my child?                                                                                                                               If you would like to book a place for your child, please ask for a pack of Registration Forms (available from the school office). Enclosed in the pack you will find a booking slip on which you can indicate preferred days. Children are unable to come to club unless the registration forms have been signed.

Who can attend?                                                                                                                                                             The club operates for children who attend Palmerston Primary School.

What are the start and finish times?                                                                                                                           The club starts at 3.15 pm and finishes at 5.30 pm. We are open every day during school term time, excluding INSET days.

How  much will it cost?                                                                                                                                                 For each session you will pay £7.75. Sessions should be booked in advance and where possible at the beginning of each half term. Payments must be made at the beginning of each week. Same day bookings will be subject to an extra charge of 50p.

Where will the club be based?                                                                                                                                     
The club is based in the Oasis Room at Palmerston Primary School. Several areas of the school are available for our use. These include the Rainbow Room, Hall, Outdoor Play Area and the Sensory Garden.

What is the policy for transition from class to club at the end of the school day?                                       Foundation Phase children are collected from their classrooms and escorted to the Oasis Room.                     Key Stage 2 children are sent to the Oasis Room where they are received by a playworker. The children are registered immediately.

Are snacks and drinks provided?                                                                                                                            Snacks and drinks are available each session. All food and drinks are offered in line with our healthy eating policy and meet the dietary needs and preferences of children as indicated on the child’s registration form. Children are able to choose from a range of snacks and fruit is readily available.

What activities are offered?                                                                                                                                    Indoor and outdoor activities are planned daily. Children are encouraged to participate in these planned activities but are able to choose from various resources and play equipment that are available. Children are asked to make suggestions regarding new resources and equipment and where possible appropriate request are met.

Can my child attend after school clubs?                                                                                                                     Yes, providing the relevant forms are signed. You will need to inform us of your child’s attendance at an after school club so that collection arrangements can be made.

Where do I collect my child from?                                                                                                                              Your child will be ready for collection from the Key Stage 2 end of the school at 5.30pm. A member of the staff will open the door, you will be asked to sign a ‘pick-up’ form after which your child will be handed over to you.

Please inform us if your child is being collected by someone other than  yourself. If the person collecting your child is unfamiliar to us we will ask them for the password you have indicated on your contact form. Failure to inform the person of your password will delay the handing over process while we attempt to contact you.
